In September, Spindletop brought Crime Stoppers of Houston to the FCCU offices to carry out another Connections event. Crime Stoppers’ Safe Community Institute is a one stop show for all things public safety and crime prevention. This program takes propound steps to prevent future crime through citizen empowerment and education by training community members, parents, and law enforcement on critical public safety concerns through free presentations, community events and multi-media resources.
One of the many topics discussed with parents is child safety and the steps to be taken should a child ever go missing. While at these workshops, parents receive a child safety ID kit that allows parents to capture pertinent data, including hair color, eye color, birthmarks, social media handles, etc., that law enforcement needs in their investigation. When ECCU gathered in September, they assembled 2,000 Child Safety ID Kits to help in the facilitation of these important info sessions.
