The Emerging Leader Steering Committee (ELSC) is comprised of rising leaders from both the operating and service sectors of the energy industry. The Committee is dedicated to building a Spindletop Army of volunteers and planning service projects at Spindletop non-profit partners for its participants.
From STEM Days to arts & crafts to mentoring and more, our volunteers have the opportunity to work with at-risk kids throughout our community. These individuals span across the energy industry and have a passion for volunteering and helping others. In 2019, the ELSC kicked off its inaugural flagship event, Spindletop Unity in Community, which is held annually in November. This day of volunteering and fellowship brings together approximately 75 volunteers who are introduced to 6 of Spindletop’s community partners. Volunteers hear from each organization about the work they do and move station to station completing service projects, such as assembling literacy care packages, stuffing holiday stockings, and decorating Thanksgiving food distribution bags, which will be distributed to the children served at each organization. As the day comes to a close, volunteers relax and visit with fellow volunteers at an informal social.

Spindletop Connections was created in response to a rapidly growing interest in volunteering across the energy industry. The Spindletop Emerging Leader Steering Committee strategized to find ways to continue to meet the needs and wants of the Spindletop Army as well as have opportunities for individuals and their companies looking to volunteer as a team.
What is Spindletop Connections?
Spindletop Community Impact Partners engages member companies to develop young leaders as well as strengthen their community presence and network through philanthropic giving and volunteerism. Spindletop Connections fulfills this vision as it is a service provided by the Spindletop office to work as a liaison between sponsor corporations and non-profits to plan volunteer events for the companies involved.
How Can My Company Get Involved?
Spindletop Connections is offered to companies that have contributed $10,000 or more collectively in a calendar year through special events or outright donations. If you are interested in learning more or getting a volunteer event scheduled, please contact Spindletop Executive Director Lia Vallone. She will work with you directly on identifying the impact area in which you are interested in volunteering, provide options of non-profits that have opportunities available, and introduce your organization’s contact with the non-profit to finalize logistics.
Can My Employees Get Involved with Spindletop in Additional Ways?
Yes, all participants of Spindletop Connections as well as anyone within the energy industry are welcome to join the Spindletop Army, where volunteer events are planned almost every month with different Spindletop-supported non-profits.
“Working with our youth charities and seeing the difference our organization makes in the lives of so many children is incredibly rewarding. I am very proud to serve on the Board of Spindletop Community Impact Partners and continue these good works through philanthropy, volunteerism and now Spindletop Connections”.
