Golf tournament

Spindletop was founded with an invitational golf tournament in 1966, and it has grown over the years to become the world’s largest energy professionals charitable golf tournament. Nearly 200 energy executives join together the week prior to the annual Offshore Technology Conference to raise funds for Houston-area youth non-profits. Under the direction of the Spindletop Board of Directors, the tournament is organized by a volunteer committee – the Spindletop Golf Ambassadors. The tournament is held at Memorial Park Golf Course, home of the Houston Open.
The tournament format is a two-person shamble, allowing for a two-person team to win his/her flight with a low gross or low net score. The format also allows for one team to be crowned the overall tournament champion determined by a low gross score.

Spindletop Holiday Ball

The Spindletop Holiday Ball continues to be the premiere holiday event in the energy industry! The black-tie gala is a spectacular and cheerful celebration recognizing the generous support offered from Spindletop to Houston’s at-risk youth non-profits. Spindletop sponsors and volunteers gather to toast the success of the year and to enjoy an evening of dinner and dancing, bidding in a unique silent auction and supporting the Spindletop Toy Drive!
Three awards are presented at the Ball. The Spindletop Award is presented to an individual from the exploration and production side of the energy industry, and the Spindletop Founders Award is presented to an individual from the service side. Both award recipients are honored for their dedication to the industry, the community at large, and for their personal and company support to Spindletop. The Constance White Volunteer Service Award is presented to an individual in the energy industry who has generously given their time and talents volunteering to bring light and life to at-risk children served through Spindletop, our non-profit partners and in the community at large.

The Spindletop Soiree

The Spindletop Soiree, orchestrated by the Spindletop Emerging Leader Steering Committee, transcends the ordinary networking event and delivers an immersive experience to attendees. Each year, a vibrant theme ensures that networking becomes not just essential but also an enjoyable affair.

In 2023, our inaugural Soiree embraced the captivating theme “Havana Nights,” creating an unforgettable evening immersed in the allure of Cuba. Guests savored delectable Cuban cuisine by Heirloom Catering, indulged in the evening’s signature blackberry mojito, and swayed to the enchanting melodies of Demola the Violinist and DJ Senega. The atmosphere, reminiscent of old-timey Havana, was further enriched as attendees seized the opportunity to capture special moments at this unique networking event, all while savoring hand-rolled cigars courtesy of El Cubano Cigars.
