Since 1998, YES Prep Public Schools has redefined what is possible in public education. With over 20,000 college-bound students across 24 campuses, YES Prep serves as a system of high-performing public charter schools proving that students from underserved communities can achieve at the highest academic levels. Their proven results demonstrate that better outcomes are not only possible, but also probable, when school systems build a culture of high expectations, and create effective support systems to ensure that student achievement is at the forefront of every decision made
In January, YES Prep high school students put their creativity and problem-solving skills to the test at Design Quest 2025, an exciting design-thinking challenge hosted at the Spindletop Center. The event was structured to inspire collaboration and critical thinking, kicking off with a career panel featuring energy industry professionals, followed by teamwork sessions where students brainstormed and refined their projects with support from mentors. Students broke into small groups consisting of fellow YES Prep students and Spindletop volunteers serving as advisors to tackle a real-world problem. The groups each developed an innovative solution which was then presented in front of judges with visual campaigns to explain their groundbreaking tech ideas. After showcasing their ideas, the judges announced the first, second and third place winners.
