In Spring 2024, we proudly supported two impactful initiatives focused on fighting food insecurity and promoting healthy nutrition for children and families in need.

Fourth Annual Virtual Food Drive

Spindletop partnered with the Christian Community Service Center and Kids’ Meals for the Fourth Annual Spindletop Virtual Food Drive. This year’s drive was facilitated through an Amazon Wish List, making it easy for members of the energy industry to contribute. This year’s initiative resulted in the collection of over 1,600 pounds of food. These donations played a vital role in supporting underserved children, providing them with essential nutrition to help them thrive physically, rest, and enjoy recreational activities.

The contributions included non-perishable foods such as soups, pasta, beans, baby food and formula, peanut butter, and canned vegetables and fruits, along with essential items like soap, diapers, and toilet paper. This outpouring of generosity made a significant impact on the well-being of many families in need.

Brighter Bites

Brighter Bites is a non-profit dedicated to providing fresh fruits and vegetables directly to families in need, while also teaching them how to incorporate the produce into their meals for healthier eating habits. Spindletop’s funding played a vital role in supporting Brighter Bites’ mission, contributing to their efforts to serve 30,000 children across 58 schools in Houston during the 2023-2024 school year. Specifically, Spindletop’s $11,000 gift was the equivalent of providing 220 families with a month’s worth of fresh produce.

In March, Spindletop Army volunteers visited Hill Elementary School to pack bags of fresh fruits and vegetables, which were delivered to children and families facing food insecurity. Working alongside Brighter Bites staff, volunteers followed expert guidance to ensure the produce was properly sorted and distributed to those in need.
