The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo(HLSR) has been rewarding scholarships since 1957 to deserving young Texans. Spindletop Charities, Inc. sponsors one scholarship annually based on financial need for a recipient who is pursuing a science or engineering degree. The 2017 recipient of the Spindletop/HLSR scholarship is Isabella Deleon, a graduate of Cy-Fair High School in Cypress. She will be a freshman at the University of Houston this fall pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Spindletop representatives Constance White and Kristen Barley had the pleasure of meeting Isabella and her family at the HLSR Scholarship reception held on May 24, 2017 and look forward to remaining in contact with her throughout her college experience.
