Every child deserves a good night’s sleep; however, many children across our city are not so lucky. Some sleep on the floor in sleeping bags while others share a bed with multiple siblings. Houston Children’s Charity, a non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of Greater Houston’s underprivileged, abused, and disabled children who have been underserved, has created a program to help fill this void in a child’s life. Their “A Better Night’s Sleep” program provides children in need with brand-new mattresses, bed frames, sheets, and pillows. Spindletop has been a proud partner of this program for three years.

In February, the Spindletop Army gathered to help distribute 150 beds to these very special families. They assembled bedding packs and loaded the cars of each family with all the essential supplies. Research shows a strong link between proper sleep and a childs academic performance, making this initiative even more impactful. Together, Houston Children’s Charity and Spindletop volunteers helped provide the foundation needed to help these children rise each day – rested and equipped – to undertake any challenges that lie ahead.
