The YMCA of Greater Houston continues to fulfill its commitment as a community-centered organization focused on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Through educational programs and meaningful experiences, the YMCA creates opportunities that help young people learn, grow, and thrive while building confidence and developing skills for the future.
In 2026, the Spindletop Volunteer Army returned to the YMCA of Greater Houston’s summer enrichment program to host another exciting STEM Day. Children ages 5 to 11 participated in a variety of hands-on science activities designed to bring STEM concepts to life in a fun and engaging way. With support and guidance from Spindletop volunteers, students explored scientific ideas through interactive experiments, asked questions, made observations, and discovered how science and engineering are connected to the world around them.
Throughout the day, the children worked together, tested ideas, and developed their problem-solving skills while learning through hands-on exploration. The activities provided an opportunity for students to build curiosity and confidence while discovering new interests in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The enthusiasm and participation of the students made the day a meaningful experience for both the children and volunteers.
