YES Prep Public Schools is an open enrollment charter school district that operates 18 high-performing schools in Houston, serving more than 12,000 students in grades 6-12. Founded on the premise that all students, regardless of race or socio-economic status can achieve at the highest academic level, YES Prep continues to shatter the status quo for student achievement in public education. YES Prep’s mission is to increase the number of students from under-served communities to graduate from college and be prepared to lead in their communities.
The Spindletop Teaching Excellence Center, the largest grant from Spindletop Charities, Inc. to a youth charity organization, is located at the YES Prep Southside campus and was completed in 2017. Hundreds of new teachers from school districts across the city, not just from YES Prep, are gaining teacher development training and certification at the Spindletop Center.
Since 2000, Spindletop has made other generous donations to YES Prep, namely the YES Prep North Central Campus Science & Technology Program and the seed grant for the YES Prep District Scholarship Fund.
